Finding That One Thing

Hello!!

Recently I have been think about what I'd like to happen in my future. There's a lot of change on the way and I would like to find that one thing that I can say "you know what, I'm good at that"

My lovely other half has found that in his job. Ok he doesn't love his job, who does love their job. But he has recently been put forward for a promotion because he's good at what he does. I am so unbelievably happy for him but at the same time slightly annoyed that I haven't found mine yet.

My dream is to be able to quite me job (who's isn't right!!) and have a unit close to my house that I can go to and work from.

I have plenty of things that I'm good at. Baking, drawing, DIY crafts for my house or work. But you can't really make a living from drawing. I'm good at baking but not good enough to sell it and there's just so many people selling DIY craft things on Facebook or Etsy. I'm not different enough to be able to sell that I don't think.

I just need to find that one thing that I know I'm good at. I don't even need to make a living off it. Id like to just have it.

Have you found that one things for you??

  1. Well I think you're great at writing! Could that be your thing? I've only recently become a blogger but I think this is the first thing I've ever really done for me. I love it. It hasn't made me a penny, but I don't care as it's just mine all mine! I hope you find what you're looking for.

  2. I don't really know that one thing either. I like what I do at work, but is it my one thing? not sure. Parenting? Definitely something I'm learning and can't say I'm good at. I think that is something we all strive to find, but we can be decent at very many things heh

  4. I too have to decide by next fall what it is that I exactly want to do. I am a licensed cosmetogist specializing in nails and skin care and had made a great career of it before deciding to stay home with my kids instead. While I've been home I've taken classes for photography and graphic design which has brought in some extra income but I miss working in an environment with the same people and building relationships. I think we all suffer from identity loss when we decide to be stay at home parents but I know that one day I will be proud to say that I was blessed to be able to watch every moment of my babies grow from infant to childhood. Thanks for linking up with #momsterslink. Hope to see you again this week!

    1. That sounds great. I would have LOVED to be a a stay at home mum. But unfortunately first time round I couldn't. This time though I will be able to cut my hours slightly! which is going to be a drop in money but will be a big help with the kids :)

  6. I think trying to find something we love to do is so important. I would love to find my niche. I love writing so something that involved that would be ace. You never know you could make money from drawing, look at Hurruh for Gin. I say if you want to do it then chase it :-)

  8. I totally understand where you're coming from! I finally feel like I'm beginning to discover myself, and that's from experimenting! Get out and try things. Try hiking, or fishing. Try new types of baking: gluten free or vegan. I'd say you're pretty good at writing. You can totally make some money from blogging <3 #KCACOLS

  10. I'm still trying to work that one thing out! I'm good at what I do for a full time job but what I want to do is something far less stressfull. Trouble is I dont have a clue what that could be! Now youve got me thinking!:)

  11. You're clearly creative in your talents - so maybe it's work in a creative field that's right for you. As for me, I don't know. I was good at what I used to do, & I did like parts of it, but would not return to it. I always wanted to teach, but despair of what has been done to the system, so not sure I would now. I enjoy writing, but I make no money from it!

    Good luck finding your thing!

  12. I feel the same than you!! It is not easy to find "the thing" that makes you unique. I stopped working as a lawyer not long ago to become a SAHM. It was a strange transition but I'm happy now to spend more time with my girls. Last year I started blogging and since then I felt that this is what I want to do. It makes me happy and I can share it with my family so it is perfect. I love it!! Now I'm hoping this to become my new hob, fingers crossed!! ;-) Good luck lovely!! Thanks so much for sharing this at #KCACOLS, :-) x

  14. I'm also struggling with nailing that one thing so I can relate with your feelings. I'm still searching and praying. But, I honestly think writing is part of the things I do decently, although there's still room for improvement.
